Covid-19 is taking a terrible shape in Bangladesh. Scientists fear the region could be the epicenter of an epidemic in the long run. In one year we had the opportunity to increase the readiness and capability to deal with Corona. We haven't had much success since then. The advice given by the public health experts has not been implemented.
Ordinary people also forgot everything and started getting used to normal life. Infections have increased and new records of infections and deaths are being set every day.
Corona infection as an official is now declining.
But public health experts say the real picture is still unknown. During the 'limited' lockdown, millions of people left Dhaka and spread across the country. Now they are starting to come back again.
As a result, the situation has become more complicated. The government has issued a 16-point directive comprising experts. But they are not being implemented properly. There was also a lack of public awareness campaigns and distribution of information through social media. As a result, confusion has arisen among the people.
Infections are on the rise around the world right now. We need to remember that Kovid-19 is an RNA virus. Naturally, it mutates on its own. It gives birth to new species by itself. The new types are even more powerful. By constantly transforming themselves, the viruses are getting stronger, increasing the infection. From the point of view of public health experts, public gatherings help spread the infection. That is what has happened in Bangladesh.
Moreover, mass mobilization in Corona, use of public transport, inability to ensure social distance in markets, restaurants and other places, not having proper preparation to deal with Corona despite having opportunities are some of the reasons for the increase in infections.
The solution
Failure to stop this coronary infection can lead to major health disasters. Its detrimental effect on the economy will increase further. So a few things need to be emphasized.
Encourage people to stay at home: The highest infection rates in the country are in Dhaka and Chittagong. People in these areas should be encouraged to stay at home in compliance with hygiene rules. They have to understand sincerely. In these two cities the public must stay at home for at least two weeks. Otherwise it will not work with lockdown.
Encourage vaccination: The first dose of the mass vaccination program is over, the second dose is being given. But these activities are being implemented slower than necessary. We relied on vaccines from one source, so we lagged behind in collecting vaccines from other sources. As a result, there is uncertainty about vaccination. I have come out with the news that the existing stock of ticks will run out by mid-May 15.
So you need to bring more than one vaccine at the fastest time. Besides, plans have to be taken to make vaccines in the country. Everyone needs to be vaccinated. Only then can we resist Corona.
Ensure the safety of the elderly: 80 percent of those who die in Corona are aged 50 or over. So seniors need to stop going out of the house unnecessarily. Make sure everyone uses a mask. Anyone who is suffering from corona or who has mild symptoms should contact a hospital or doctor. There is no need to go to the hospital if the condition is not bad, but there should be contact. You have to take medical services through telemedicine. Even if you get vaccinated, you have to follow the hygiene rules.
Hospital Management: More importance needs to be given to patient management. Frontliners need to be prepared through training, provided with the necessary medical supplies. Everyone involved in the treatment of Kovid-19 should be encouraged. We have to run a campaign in this regard in the media.
Public awareness will increase in advertising, prevention measures will be strengthened from the individual level. Telemedicine services need to be integrated with hospital services. The number of deaths due to corona in Bangladesh is relatively low; However, post-coronary complications do a lot of damage to the body. Increases the risk of diabetes, kidney, liver and lung damage, long-term health complications.
Mask use: One of the main tasks is to use a mask. Must use mask properly at all times. The government as well as the non-governmental organizations have to come forward to increase public awareness in this regard. People should be encouraged to use masks in mosques, temples, mahallas and wards.
Universal and long-term campaign: Although it has been more than a year, there is no expert campaign on corona alert. Creative campaigns are needed at all levels to spread the word about corona prevention to everyone. Attempts to raise awareness must become a habit. Television, radio, magazines; Even corporate houses can come forward in this work. As far as we can go to people, they will be careful; Prevention management will also be strengthened.
Research: Research on corona should be given attention. Necessary money has to be allocated for this. Future planning can be done using the knowledge gained from research.
